Homemade Lemon-Egg shampoo-Do It Yourself


Ingredients:
  • 2 Eggs
  • Shampoo (2 tablespoons)
  • ½ Lemon
  • Essential oil (5-6 drops)

Procedure:

Step 1:
Take eggs in a bowl.

Step 2:
Add shampoo in it.

Step 3:
Squeeze lemon into the bowl (without the seeds of course).

Step 4:
Now add your favorite essential oil into it, blend all the ingredients well and use the mixture like a normal shampoo.

Cleansing properties of lemon keeps your scalp clean and healthy. Egg is an excellent moisturizer which nourishes and protects your hair. 

Adding these ingredients in your usual shampoo reduces the harmful effects of chemicals present in your shampoo.

How to make facial bleach at home-Do It Yourself


Bleach has chemicals that merge into the skin and lighten facial hair, making them considerably less noticeable on your skin. Bleaches available in the market are unkind on the skin but you can prepare natural bleach at home that too in an easy way.

Ingredients:
Milk powder (1 tablespoon)
Hydrogen peroxide (1/2 tablespoon)

Method:
Mix milk powder and hydrogen peroxide to make a thick paste and your homemade bleach is ready to use. This is the least harmful kind of bleach as the milk powder in the mixture moisturizes your skin while bleaching, preventing skin burns and other reactions.

How to make wax at home-Do It Yourself



Hair removal is one of the common beauty practices. There are various ways to remove body hair like shaving, hair removal creams etc. but waxing is the safest one and you can prepare homemade organic wax that too in an easy and cost effective way.

Ingredients required:

  • Granulated Sugar (200 grams)
  • Honey (150-200 grams)
  • ½ Lemon
  • Essential oil (10 drops)

Method:

Take granulated sugar in a saucepan and melt it on a medium flame. Allow the sugar to boil for two minutes (keep stirring it well using a wooden spoon to prevent it from burning). Once sugar attains the brown color, add aromatic essential oil (of your choice) into the sugar to render fragrant appeal. Now add honey to the saucepan and stir well (on a medium flame). Squeeze lemon juice into the mixture while you stir. Sieve the mixture using a clean cotton towel and allow it to rest for 2 minutes. Knead the mass (until its golden yellow) and store it in an airtight container.

Homemade Christmas gifts ideas- Do It Yourself


Christmas is approaching, I can already hear jingle bells all around!!!

This Christmas try some fabulous festive craft ideas to create something really special, innovative and useful for your loved ones and make  them feel special. Here we have some exciting homemade gift ideas to add personalized touch to your Christmas presents:

1.     Heart key chain:
You’ll need- a piece of red and black cotton fabric (or any fabric of your choice), black velvet ribbon, key ring (from your old key chain), scissors, stuffing, a needle and black thread.

Procedure:
Cut two equal pieces of the red fabric in the heart shape. Blanket stitch both the pieces along the borders with black thread, leaving 1 cm gap and stuff some sponge or cotton into it, to make it puffy. Sew up the remaining gap. Cut two 5cm long thin strips of red and black fabric. Take a black and red strip, start rolling into a swirl and sew both the swirls to the heart.  Make a small loop of the black velvet ribbon (so that it can be linked to the chain) and stitch it on the top of heart where the heart forms V shape. Pass a metal key ring (from your old key chain) through the loop.

2. Rhinestone studded pens and pencils:
You’ll need-A pen/pencil, rhinestones and glue.
Procedure:
Take a simple good quality pen or pencil. Paste rhinestones on pen/ pencil with the help of glue making your own patterns. Let it dry overnight and pen/pencil is ready to be gifted.

3. A Gift basket:
You’ll need- A wicker basket, food items (of your choice), a ribbon and a sheet of transparent paper.

You can present a gift basket stuffed with various food items and the best part is, it can be customized according to one’s taste. You can include chocolates, juices (tetra packs), wafers, candies, cookies, dry fruits etc.

Procedure:
Take a basket and place all the desired items in it. Place the basket on the transparent sheet. Gather the edges of the transparent sheet and tie the ribbon around, into a bow.

4. A set of CDs:
You’ll need-Blank CDs, a comuter/laptop loaded with songs you want to add.

Procedure:
Burning CDs for your friend or loved one is a wonderful gift idea; just add few songs of their choice. You can categorize your CDs loading one with sweet romantic songs, another with sad songs, next one with rocking party hits and not to forget the oldies or you can say the evergreen songs, here you get a complete gift set.

5. A trinket box:
You’ll need- An old box with lid, paint (any color of your choice), glue and gems/beads.

Procedure:
Take an old cardboard candy box or any metal box or any wooden box with a lid. If you have a cardboard box or wooden box, paint it with latex paint. In case of metal box you need to paint it with anti-corrosive primer/oil based primer and then with the selected oil based paint. Decorate the box by gluing gems, beads etc making your own pattern. Your exquisite trinket box is ready to be gifted.

How to do nail art at home:


Nail art- Do It Yourself

Nails are considered as one of the important beauty elements of a woman, In-fact stylish nails add grace to a woman’s dress up. Nail art is completely based upon one’s imagination and creativity; Nail art can be subtle or wild/loud as you want. There are endless styles for nail art; you can design your nails according to the need of the hour.
Here are a few easy steps and styles to make nail art at home:

1.     French Manicure:
You’ll need- A cello tap, transparent nail enamel, white nail paint and a soft pink nail color.


Step 1: First of all remove old nail polish properly using a nail polish remover.
Step 2: Apply the base coat of pink color and let it dry.
Step 3:  Cover the end of the nail using cello tape and leave the tips of nails.
Step 4: Apply the white nail paint on the tips, let it dry and remove the tape.
Step 5:  Give a final touch with transparent nail enamel.

2.     Newspaper print:
You’ll need- Grey nail paint, a cutting of paper that has a written print, Rubbing alcohol(mainly used as an antiseptic) and a transparent nail enamel.

Step 1: Start with removing old nail polish with nail polish remover.
Step 2: Apply the base coat of grey color on your nails.
Step 3: Dip your fingers in rubbing alcohol for around 30 seconds.
Step 4: Press the paper cutting on your nail, till the written print comes on the nail and let it dry.
Step 5: Cover with transparent nail enamel to give a final touch.

3.     Rhinestone studded nails:
You’ll need-A nail paint (any color of your choice), rhinestones (they are available in market in various sizes, shapes and colors) and transparent nail enamel.


Step 1: First of all remove the old nail paint using a nail paint remover.
Step 2: Apply the base coat with the nail paint (of your choice) and let it dry.
Step 3: When the second coat is still wet, place the rhinestones on the nails making your own patterns (Dip the tip of toothpick into transparent nail enamel then pick up the rhinestone and place it on the nail).
Step 4: Cover your nails with transparent nail enamel to prevent the rhinestones from falling.

4.     Funky glitter:
 You’ll need-Transparent nail enamel, glitter (silver or colored).



Step 1: To get started remove your old nail paint.
Step 2: Apply the transparent base coat.
Step 3: While base coat is still wet sprinkle the glitter on your nails.
Step 4: Once dry, apply the transparent nail enamel for the final touch.

Homemade body scrubs:


Who said you need to spend a great deal for a body scrub treatment?You can experience the scrub benefits without leaving your pocket light. You can make your own homemade scrubs. The best thing about homemade body scrub is that, you can customize the scrub according to your skin needs. Homemade scrubs offer finest and natural treatments to your body and are very efficient in rejuvenating your skin. 


5 easy and effective homemade body scrubs:

1.     Milk, Honey and Oats scrub (for dry skin):
Mix milk (1/2 cup) and oats (1 cup) and honey (2 tablespoons) well to form a consistent paste. Apply the scrub all over your body. Gently massage your body, leave it for 2 minutes and wash it off. This scrub will leave your skin clean, smooth and soft.

2.     Gram flour –Yoghurt scrub:
Take 1 cup gram flour and 1/2 cup yoghurt, mix them well. Use the mixture as a scrub all over your body and leave it for 2 minutes before you wash your body. This scrub can do wonders to your skin leaving it clean and fair.

3.     Tomato- Rice scrub (for oily skin):
Soak uncooked rice (a fistful) in water for half an hour. Grind the soaked rice coarsely. Make a puree of 3-4 tomatoes; add coarse rice particles in it. Apply the mixture on your body; gently massage your body in a circular motion. Leave it for 20 minutes and wash off with Luke warm water. This scrub is very beneficial for oily and combination skin.

4.     Yoghurt –Coffee scrub:
Take 1 cup lightly ground coffee and ½ cup yoghurt. Gently massage with this paste in circular motions and wash it away. This scrub works as a great moisturizer too.

5.     Honey-Walnut scrub:
Take a handful of walnuts, 2 tablespoons honey and ½ cup milk. Lightly grind walnuts and mix all the ingredients well. Use the mixture as a scrub to make your body supple and soft.

Body scrubs are helpful in opening and cleaning skin pores, promoting blood circulation and removing dead skin leaving your skin clean, smooth and healthy looking.

Points to be taken care of:

1. Don’t use body scrubs more than two times a week as frequent use can damage your skin.

2. You needn’t use any soap or body wash after scrubbing your body.
